Toronto, ON @ The Mod Club

Well, this was one of our first "real...headlining, tickets for sale" shows in Toronto. The turnout was good and the venue is amazing. The on-stage sound was so good, I had a hard time wrapping my head around it....I know it makes no sense, but all I usually get is the pulse of the music. This time I could hear every string and it freaked me out. Anyways, the show was a lot of fun. We got to hang out with a bunch of our friends etc. It was a good night. -Adam.

Waterloo, ON @ The Starlight

I like the band room area here. It's like a mini apartment above a restaurant, across an alley from the venue. We hung out, drank beer, and Brad showed Ryan and I the ways of Art Brut. -Adam.

Sudbury, ON @ The Townehouse

Once again, Sudbury has done us proud! I have to admit a few months back when I first walked into the Townehouse I thought "what a shithole dive....this is gonna suck". My judgment was only a small fraction because of the actual venue, but more the daytime regulars or whatever they were. The people looked like they worked and drank so hard, that their bodies were already dead and rotting away. At night however....this becomes a great live venue. People are drunk and jumping around and yelling. It's way too much fun playing here!! Brad and I pulled through a killer cold for this show, before hitting the stage The Count Duke (tour manager) and I made a drug run....we came back with Cold F-X (these really work), nasal decongestant, throat drops and vitamin C. We pulled it off nicely and the crowd was really great! Oh, thanks Bill for the help with "My Generation". -Adam.

Waterloo, ON @ Wilf's

Well, this was another one of those weird college campus shows where people that aren't students or friends of students can't attend. So, it's weird. The venue was in the middle of a campus restaurant/bar/roadhouse and it's always hard to create a good atmosphere in those environments......but we did alright. It was a-okay! The back stage room was beside the stage in what looked like a glass smoking section, so it was a little like being in a fish tank.....on display. This is so long ago and I'm suffering from an incredible case of jetlag....absolutely incredible (day 3).....so this is as good as this diary entry is going to get. -Adam.

Blackpool, England @ The Beat Club

I would hate to be the father some of the girls who lived in Blackpool. They hardly wear any clothes. The show: In my opinion, this was definitely one of the finest shows we’ve played. Like I've said before, I’m not advocating alcohol use by telling you this stuff….I’m just telling you what happened….after the show we got really drunk again and I was running around like a crazy person. Ryan was trying to calm me down so a cab would pick us up, so I tried to get Ryan to fight me….I don’t know why, I said, “look I want to get this over with, so we can move on with our lives”, and I was tauntingly shoving him in the back seat of the cab we took back to The Rossall Tavern (Where we were staying….thanks again Maurice…you are the best!). Nothing happened, I think I was joking. –Adam.

Berlin, Germany @ Frannz Club (Popkomm Festival)

Okay, so we just gat back from Germany….and we played in Berlin. East Berlin is absolutely covered in graffiti….it’s on everything that spray paint will stick to…which is pretty much everything. Our Hotel was down a dark, scary alley. The rooms were like weird little mini ghetto apartments….but very clean. The first thing I did was open a bottle of wine with a pen and spilled it all over the floor. Nice. Hopefully we don’t get billed for the cleaning. The city was nice and we all liked how you could buy beers at the corner store and drink them legally on the street. On my first night there I went to a little family owned fast food joint where the pudgy dwarfish owner was making fun of me in German. "Obitidooooooo!!! Ha ha ha ha. Obititdoooodooooo!! Ha ha ha". While the owners life mate made me schnitzel on a pita….and his friends had a good chuckle. So at least I provided some comic relief for them. We tortured our bodies on this trip, staying up until 6am drinking and partying. Then the same the following day. We were asking random people where the clubs were and one girl tried to convince us to go to a ping pong table bar named King Pong. I was willing to go, but Brad and Ryan’s sense prevailed. Now to the show. We had a good sized crowd out and it was pretty neat to see people out to see us in Germany. We played a pretty good set and all was good. After the show we met up with some German industry people and bar hopped all night. We ended up in a bar with a sand floor. I can’t remember it’s name, Brad or Ryan will. It was something like “Bahamas”. We were all ruined by this point, so the sandy ground startled me we I first stepped on it. I still have sand in my shoes. We “prosted” each other until 5:30am and walked an hour back to the hotel in the pissing rain. It was a great night. Now about flying. I was flying around Toronto-Manchester, Liverpool-Berlin, Berlin-Liverpool, Manchester-Toronto, with no luggage, only carry on. In my carry on was my kick pedal and sticks and I got hassled by security on every flight….On the flight into Germany, the security guy said, “I need to see inside you bag” and he showed me the x-ray screen…..It looked a hell of a lot like a gun, so I guess that could have been the problem. I got onto the plane every time with it, but I had to break the nail file off of my nail clippers….I think it’s strange that I can fly on a plane with a big metal kick pedal and a bottle of wine….that I could break into a stabbing instrument, but my nail file was too dangerous. I’m not bashing the security, I’m glad they are strict and don’t mind being searched etc. Oh, one last thing….the security guard in the German airport pat searched me and felt my pubic area….now there’s a first for me. –Adam.
