Wasaga Beach, ON @ The Blue Motel

This was a giant fenced off party on Wasaga Beach, put on by Labatt Blue. The first half of the day was sunny and nice, we did some swimming, ate some shitty beach strip food and drank beer. There were girls with painted on shirts and bikini contests….another circus. Then it was time for music. So, it started pissing rain right before The Waking Eyes went onstage. It was raining sideways, so the stage crew had to quickly cover all the band’s gear. When it started to thunder and lightning, I was sure the show was going to get stopped….after all, we were going to be playing on a giant metal stage. After about an hour, only the hardcore fans were left. So standing in muddy sand and rain, they watched the show. About 5 minutes before we started, the rain stopped. We stood in the puddles and did our set. When we finished, it started raining again. Jackalope & Theory Of A Deadman played their sets in the rain as well…..the gods were smiling down on us. Later I heard Jackalope said on radio that it only stopped raining for them….that was a lie…a little white lie. -Adam.

Hamilton, ON @ The Casbah

All my hometown shows say the same thing….a ton of fun….hung out with all our friends…..good energy etc. and it’s always true. Same thing today. Relaxation at home prior to gig, good food at venue, great response, catching up with every person I’ve ever known….kind of like a wedding, but fun. The only thing different was at this show we played a bunch of new songs that we’ve never played live before. I like all of our old material, but after 2+ years playing the same songs, it’s an exciting and fresh feeling to break out some new ones. –Adam.

Toronto, ON @ Younge & Dundas Square

Okay, this was a Beach party put on by Labatt Blue in the middle of a concrete city square in the heart of downtown Toronto. It was a while ago, so I may have a little bit of a hard time remembering fine details, but I’ll do my best…here I go. We did a mid-evening interview with Bookie at The Edge 102.1, Bookies a good fella and the interview was like silk. Afterwards we went for a beer at the hard rock café. The sand in the square was much smaller than it needed to be to qualify as a beach party….it was still something like 14 tons, so I guess a good effort was made. It was more like a 100 by 5 foot sandbox…with a few beach chairs party. The show was a little strange….I guess it was the surroundings. A crazy, ripped, shirtless, Santa Clause was doing an inhuman amount of pushups to the music while we played…..and that’s all I’m going to write about today. -Adam.
